Registering to be a volunteer Host Family

With the aim of promoting international exchange at the grassroots level, host family volunteers invite foreigners into their homes as part of their everyday lives.

Regular Home Visits

Host Families invite JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) trainees for a day visit to their homes and conduct exchanges.

Niko-Niko Kazoku (Exchange Student Homevist Program)

This program is for exchange students of universities in Kitakyushu City.

Host families from the local area become a "Kitakyushu Mother or Father" to the exchange student, and over the course of the program (6months - 1 year) conduct regular visits, exchanges, and also support them emotionally.

Registration Conditions

  • The person registering is an adult
  • All family members consent to the registration
  • Living in Kitakyushu City or the surrounding area
  • Definitely able to join the briefing session

Other information

  • All costs related to registration and acceptance will be bourne by the host family.
  • The program lasts for 1 year, up to end of the upcoming March.
    *This program has not been made available for the purpose of the Host Families to learning a language through their interaction with exchange students.
