Important Notice

We will cease the mailing of the TanoshiMail magazine from April 2019.

The March 2019 edition will be the last TanoshiMail magazine to be mailed directly to subscribers.  Please view subsequent editions directly on our website.


1. Closed for New Year Holidays
The Kitakyushu International Association will be closed from December 29th (Sat) to January 3rd (Thurs) for the year-end and New Year holidays.

Please contact us before 16:00 on December 28th (Fri) for enquiries in foreign languages, and before 19:00 for other services.


2. Consultation Services for Foreign Residents

1) Free consultation with a public notary on immigration/nationality /visa

        December 16th (Sun) 13:00 ~ 16:00

        *Reservation required by December 11th (Tues) for those requiring interpretation.

2) Free psychological counselling with a clinical psychologist

        Contact us for available dates.

3) Free legal consultation with a lawyer (Reservation required)

        December 22nd (Sat) 13:30 ~ 16:30

        *Reservation deadline: December 18th (Tues)

3. Let’s Talk!
Whether you are new to Japan, want to improve your Japanese speaking skills, or just make new friends,「Let’s Talk!」is a session where Foreigners and Japanese can have a fun exchange with each other. Share about what you know and learn things that you have never known before. You can use either Japanese or English. (games / discussion)

■Fee: ¥500 (Members ¥300)  *Participation open to those aged 12 and above*

2. Georges Rouault Exhibition ~ Sacred Art and Modernity~

An exhibition focusing on Rouault’s sacred art, the pillar of his works that express human suffering, compassion, and forgiveness.

3. Idemitsu Museum of Arts, Moji ~ Celadons and White Porcelains

Centered on Chinese ceramics and porcelains from the museum’s excellent collection, this exhibition will feature the world of celadons and white porcelains, their charms, and mutual influence through works of ancient to modern times.

1. Itozu no Mori Zoological Park Christmas Fair
Come and enjoy Christmas decorations and music at the Park.  There will also be events of present-giving to animals and handmade classes for Christmas goods.

It is getting pretty cold.  It is a busy time of year for both the mind and body with lots of things to do. I feel as if the summer had just ended, though we are actually approaching the end of the year.

Writing New Year’s cards, sending year of end gifts, and doing housecleaning….It is tiresome just thinking of what to do.

As a big-eater, however, I can manage to handle them by thinking about something fun in winter such as baked sweet potatoes, sweet red-bean soup, etc.
