119 Emergency Services Telephone Interpretation

The fire department of the City of Kitakyushu has set up a system enabling them to take 119 emergency services calls in a variety of different languages.
The fire department command centre will connect callers to an interpretation centre hotline, allowing for 3 way interpretation of the 119 calls.

This service will begin as of today (June 1st 2017).

This service will provide interpretation services for seven different languages: (English/Chinese/Korean/Portuguese/Spanish/Vietnamese/Thai)
The service can also be used by emergency service workers at the scene of the emergency using mobile phones to provide direct interpretation services.
