1. Take precautions against Heatstroke!

Heatstroke can occur not only outdoors but indoors as well.  In fact, 60% heatstroke cases where people were taken to hospital by ambulance took place indoors last year.
Dizziness, nausea and headache are common symptoms of heatstroke. Convulsions and loss of consciousness occur in very serious cases.
Children and the elderly require special attention in particular as they are especially vulnerable.

2. Free Anti-rubella Antibody Test and Vaccination Subsidy

Since April 1st this year, the target for free anti-rubella antibody test has been expanded to males born between April 2nd 1962 and April 1st 1979 and females wishing to have a baby and their spouses living in Kitakyushu City.
Part of the vaccination fee will be covered for those who have a low antibody level.
Please refer to the city website for details.

3. Renewing National Health Insurance Card

The color of the National Health Insurance Card will change from August 1st.
The new peach-colored Insurance Card (the insurance card and elderly insurance certificate for residents aged 70 and above) will be delivered by simple registered mail by July 31st.
Please be aware that the current reddish-brown Insurance Card will be invalid from August 1st.

2. Exhibition of Rainbow Fish Original Paintings ~ Marcus Pfister’s World ~

An exhibition of around 160 original paintings of Marcus Pfister’s heart-warming picture books including the Rainbow Fish series, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of publication this year, and the Penguin Pete series.

3. Takashi Yanase’s Interactive Picture Books Exhibition ~From The Gentle Lion to Anpanman~

Takashi Yanase is the creator of “Anpanman,” one of the most widely beloved children’s characters.  This exhibition provides a variety of displays enabling everyone from children to adults to enjoy experiencing the world of Yanase’s picture books.

1. Wasshoi Hyakuman Natsumatsuri (Summer Festival)

The Wasshoi Hyakuman Natsumatsuri 2019 will start with a grand fireworks display at Mikuni World Stadium Kitakyushu.  The display this year will be upgraded to a 50-minute show with around 10,000 fireworks set off to music.

2. Kanmon Straits Fireworks Festival

With 15,000 fireworks launched lighting up the night view of the Kanmon Straits, the festival this year will enhance the celebratory atmosphere of the 130th anniversary of the opening of Kitakyushu Port.

3. Railway Fair/Summer Holidays Event at Kyushu Railway History Museum

A number of enjoyable events will be held including stage performances, operation of miniature N700 Shinkansen “Nozomi” and “Sakura,” and experiencing of train driver’s work under the instruction of JR Kyushu employees.
