3. My Country In English - The United Kingdom - Fighting for a More Equal Society

A presentation by our Coordinator for International Relations on social issues in the UK。Learn about current trends from the perspective of equality in society.

4. International Food Festival – Mum’s Home Cooking
Come along and enjoy the home cooking of mother's from around the world who are studying Japanese in Kitakyushu.

Bite-size portions of different dishes will be on sale for 100 - 300 yen each, giving you the chance to sample a wide variety of international cuisine.

■When: November 12th, 11:00–14:00 (*Top tip: Drop by early to get the best food before it sells out!)

1. Medical Check-ups for Those Entering Elementary School 

Notification postcards with details on medical check-up dates will be sent to households with children who will be starting elementary school next year.

■When: Postcards will arrive by November 30th (Thurs)

■Where: Medical check-ups can be taken at your child’s elementary school

■Applicable for: Children entering elementary school next spring

2. Child Allowance – Notification of Current Circumstance

If you are receiving child allowance, and have not yet submitted your Notification of Current Circumstances to the Public Health and Welfare Services Division of your nearest ward office please make sure to do so. If you don’t submit the notification, the city will be unable to process your child allowance payments.

2. International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

In commemoration of the 2002 Kitakyushu Gold Cup, the tournament is held annually to promote a barrier free city that is open to all. Watch teams from Canada, Korea, the Netherlands and Japan go head to head.

3. Mandolin Orchestra presented by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (YSMO) – 75th Annual Concert

YSMO was founded 75 years ago in Kitakyushu as a civic mandolin orchestra. Enjoy an afternoon of fantastic music at their annual concert.

1.25th Chikuzen Koyanose Shukuba Festival

Koyanose was one of the six post stations, known as shukuba, located in Chikuzen during the Edo period. It is a historical inn-town found on the old Nagasaki Highway between Kokura and Nagasaki. To this day, the town remains filled with beautiful, scenic rows of traditional housing. Come along for the festival to see dance performances, go shopping at the flea market and enjoy a variety of other events.

2. Yahata Kigyosai Festival 2017

With over 600,000 people attending every year, the Yahata Kigyosai Festival is the ward’s largest scale civilian festival.

Over 300 different market stalls to enjoy and an amazing array of exciting events!

From the highly anticipated twenty-five hour relay race、to a spectacular array of stage shows including the Kigyosai dance, there is something for everybody.

The day will be brought to a grand finale with a magnificent fireworks display.

3.Kitakyushu Pop Culture Festival, KPF 2017

The KPF is the biggest pop culture festival in Kyushu, featuring manga, anime, games and much more. Come along to see original panels and illustrations of popular anime, live anime song performances, talk shows with voice actors and other pop-culture activities!

4. Kitakyushu – Curry King’s Cup 2017

Seventeen of Kitakyushu’s best curry places battle it out for the King’s Cup in a spicy competition that is bound to get you hot and bothered. If you can handle the heat, drop by the Mojiko Retro area and check out the curries on offer. A must do event for curry lovers! Your votes will decide the best curry in Kitakyushu.

5. Mojiko Candle Night 2017

Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mojiko as it is decorated with over 15,000 candles! A mesmerizing illumination display and night market packed with delicious food stalls. A great way to spend a cool autumn evening.
